Meath Hurdles Championships

There were some great performances by our juvenile athletes in the sunshine on Saturday in Claremont stadium for Day 3 of the Meath Championships. Day 3 was all about the hurdles and seven of our athletes competed laying claim to eight county medals and some personal best performances. Well done to all.  After just a few weeks of hurdles training two of our U12 athletes did themselves very proud in their first competition. In the 60m U12 hurdles Kevin Doyle claimed the bronze medal while in the girls U12 60m hurdles Nia Hetherton had a great run coming fourth just missing out on the medals.  In the U13 60m boys hurdles Lee Callaghan ran brilliantly to win gold while in the U13 girls 60m hurdles Aoife Rohan claimed the silver.  In the U14 boys 75m hurdles Loclainn Harris had a great run to claim the gold medal.  In the U15 girls 80m hurdles Niamh Quinn claimed the gold with Amy Callaghan in hot pursuit winning the silver. Niamh and Amy also competed and ran brilliantly in the 250m hurdles with Niamh coming second and Amy third.  Unfortunately injury prevented a few of our athletes competing with Aine O’Sullivan, Mollie White and Ella Barry missing out on the hurdles competition but they will hopefully soon be back in action.
