It was a busy weekend in Abbotstown with Days 2 & 3 of the Leinster Indoor Championships taking place. There was a packed stadium today for the relay races and Cushinstown had four teams taking part.
The U12 boys 4 x 100m relay team included Kevin Doyle, Luke McAleese, Jyles Gogan, Eoin McLoughlin and Andrew Gough. The boys all put in great performances especially as they were competing for the first time on the 200m track in Abbotstown. The U13 girls 4 x 100m relay team of Aoife Rohan, Nia Hederton, Ellen Gough and Isabella Gogan also ran very well in a very fast heat. The U14 girls 4 x 200m relay team of Laura Bolster, Aoife Rohan, Isabella Gogan and Ella Barry ran a great race getting through to the finals and finishing in fourth place. This was a great result especially as Aoife and Isabella were running up an age group. The U15 girls 4 x 200m of Ava Purcell, Amy Callaghan, Niamh Quinn and Mollie White with Amy Bellew and Abi Sheehy as subs also put in a great performance and were very unfortunate to just miss out on getting through to the finals.
The U19 shot putt event also took place today and Aoife Jane Lenehan put in a great performance to claim the silver medal.

National Senior Indoor Championships
The club saw five of its athletes compete at the National Senior indoor championships on Saturday 17th and Sunday the 18th of February in the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown. Elizabeth Morland performed well across the board, taking the gold medal in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.43s, she also came fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.64m. Shannon Sheehy narrowly missed out on the medals in the long jump with a jump of 5.60m to take fourth. Shane Joyce came sixth in the triple jump final with a jump of 13.26m. Michael O’Sullivan just missed out on the shot put final coming ninth with a throw of 9.76m. The club has a promising set of future senior athletes as all athletes were competing out of their age category with one athlete being a junior and the other three being Under 23.

Meath Awards
It was a great night of celebration in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan last night at the Meath County Athletics Board awards. It was wonderful for the athletes to receive awards for their achievements last year and it was also nice for their parents, families and coaches to share in the celebrations. Congratulations to all our award winners.
