In torrential rain on Saturday May 27th in Morton Stadium, Santry the All Ireland Combined event took place. The weather played havoc with the timetable and the high jump event had to be cancelled. Amy Callaghan U14 did brilliantly in the remaining four events, shot putt, 75m hurdles, 800m and long jump to claim the bronze medal.
Some of Cushinstown’s older athletes were also competing on Saturday in Morton Stadium Santry, in the Irish Universities Athletics Association Competition. Shane Joyce and Elizabeth Morland both won gold in their javelin competitions. Elizabeth got a new pb in the javelin. Unfortunately for Donal Kearns representing UL, due to the bad weather his 110m hurdles event was cancelled.
Today at the AAI Open Games in Santry, Shane Joyce was again in action coming third in the senior men javelin with a throw of 54.22m. Michael O’Sullivan came fifth in the senior men discus, Jack O’Connor came fourth in the senior men long jump with a jump of 6.24m and ran the 100m in a time of 11.62. Paul Keoghan ran the Senior men 400m in a time of 57.65. Well done, great performances by all.
