Leinster Championships

Some of our juvenile athletes were competing at Day 3 & 4 of the Leinster Championships in the National Indoor Arena Abbottstown over the weekend. On Saturday Ciaran Herdman competed brilliantly in the Junior age level, coming first in the High Jump, second in the Triple Jump and seventh in the Long jump. On Sunday Ciaran added to his medal haul with a silver medal in the U18 High Jump and gold in the U18 Triple Jump. Also on Sunday Amy Callaghan, Niamh Quinn and Amy Bellew all threw very well in the U17 shot putt event. Amy Callaghan threw a pb of 11.97m to win gold while Niamh also threw a pb of 10. 68m to win the bronze medal. Amy Callaghan also jumped very well in the U17 high jump coming fourth. Well done to them all.

Meath Indoor League Night 1

Thank you to all our juvenile athletes who attended the first night of the Meath league gaining valuable points for the club, James Bellew, Lee Callaghan, Michaela Collins, Libby Cooke, Sam Field, Kyle Hetherton, Patrick Mooney, Jack McDermott, Saoirse Power, Aoife, Cian and Nessa Rohan. Thank you also to those who volunteered to help on the night and got the clubhouse ready.

Leinster Juvenile Award

Well done to Amy Callaghan who received the Leinster Juvenile Athlete award for Meath at the Leinster Athletics Star Awards which took place in Athlone on Saturday evening. Amy received the award for all her success throughout the 2019 athletic season. A great achievement after all your training, well done Amy.

It was a busy few weeks for Elizabeth Morland, competing in the Women’s Pentathlon in the 2020 Indoor Combined Events Tallinn in Estonia on Sunday Feb 9th and in Athlone on Wed. 12th. Elizabeth came 7th overall in the Combined from a very competitive field of 23, with a new pb of 4169 points beating her old pb of 4041 by 128 points. A very impressive performance which will inspire confidence going forward. Elizabeth also won the Senior Women’s Long Jump in the AIT International Grand Prix 2020.

Well done to both Zoe Mohan and Donal Kearns who were competing yesterday in the Indoor University Track and Field Championships held in Athlone. Zoe competing for DCU won the 8kg weight for distance with a throw of 8.25m while Donal who was representing TCD won the Combined Event comprising of the 60m hurdles, Shot Put, Long Jump  High Jump and the 1000m. Congrats to our two National University Champions. 👍👍
