NI & Ulster Heptathlon

A great finish to the outdoor season for two of our juvenile athletes Amy Callaghan and Aine O’sullivan who competed in the Northern Ireland & Ulster U17 Combined Event in Belfast this weekend. Amy finished 3rd in her 1st Heptathlon Event and Aine 4th. Well done girls, great achievement!

Community Games National Finals

Four members made the trip down to Limerick last weekend to compete in the Community Games National Finals. First up early on Saturday morning was Lee Callaghan, competing in the Javelin event Lee competed very well with the heavier weight of 500g to place 6th overall.   On Saturday afternoon Aoife Rohan was competing in the Hurdles, having sailed through her heat on Saturday and her semi final on Sunday morning,  in the final Aoife ran brilliantly and was unlucky to miss out on medal position by one place.  On Saturday afternoon, Amy Callaghan competed in the High Jump and jumped very well to secure the Silver medal, while on Saturday evening competing in the Discus, Niamh Quinn threw her way to securing her medal coming 4th, well done to all.

National Senior Championships

On Saturday and Sunday, the 27th and 28th of July two of our Senior team athletes competed at the National Senior Championships in Morton Stadium, Santry. Elizabeth Morland won the javelin with a PB throw of 46.60m, she also came third in the shot put with a throw of 12.45m. Michael O’Sullivan narrowly missed out on the final of the men’s discus with a throw of 32.16m to come ninth. With the end of the 2019 track and field season upon us the club would like to congratulate our athletes on their performances over the year and wish them all the best on the off-season break and pre-season training.

Setanta Games

Well done to our 10 athletes that made the short trip to the Lourdes Stadium on Saturday for the Setanta Games hosted by Athletics Louth. With a great variety of events to choose from Shot, Turbo, LJ, Sprints & Middle Distance races, Aine, Amy, Lee, Aoife, Doireann, Nia, Nessa, Saoirse, Rian & Cian came home with 16 medals between them so well done to all. Next event is the Boyne AC sports day again in the Lourdes Stadium on Sunday the 4th of August from 1.30pm.
