European Para Championships

On Tuesday the 21st of August one of our Senior team athletes, Paul Keogan ran in the T37 400m final at the European Para Athletics Championships in Berlin. Paul ran a seasons best of 56.48s to come fourth. The club would like to congratulate Paul on his achievement and wish him the best in future competitions.

Community Games

Well done to Katie Lenehan and Loclainn Harris who competed for Meath in the National Community Games in Limerick today. Katie threw brilliantly to win the silver medal in the U16 Discus. Loclainn ran very well in the U14 hurdles to qualify for the semi-finals tomorrow but unfortunately due to injury he has had to pull out of the race. Great achievements.Katie

National Senior Championships

Six of the club’s senior athletes competed at the National Outdoor Senior Championships on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of July in Morton Stadium, Santry. Elizabeth Morland came away from the championship with golds in both the long jump and javelin as well as a bronze in the 100mh. Zoe Mohan came fifth in the lady’s hammer throw with a PB of 46.56m. Donal Kearns came seventh in the men’s long jump with a PB of 6.59m and Michael O’Sullivan, Luke McCabe and Paul Keogan just missed out on making their respective finals with Michael coming 9th in the shot put and 10th in the discus while Luke competed in the 100m and Paul competed in the 200m. This competition marks the end of the outdoor season for some of our athletes and the club would like to congratulate them on their performances throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons of 2018 and we would like to wish any of our athletes whose season isn’t finished the very best of luck.

 

 

National Championships Day 3

Well done tour five athletes competing at Day 3 of the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore today.  Zoe Mohan won her third national title in 3 weeks when she took gold in the U19 girls Hammer, with a best throw of 44.11 metres, just under her personal best.  Also competing today in the U15 Javelin was Amy Callaghan, Emily McGreal and Amy Bellew, all girls threw very well getting to the last eight, with Amy Callaghan finishing in 4th place, Emily in 6th place and Amy Bellew in 8th place.  In the U14 200m Laura Bolster ran brilliantly to finish second in her heat getting through to the final where she ran very well and just missed out on the medals coming 4th overall.

Well done to all our athletes who did so well this outdoor season, and to their coaches for all their hard work and encouragement.  Enjoy your well earned break.
